San Jose International Tri
The race went agreat! Despite the hottest racing temperatures this year and the very
talented field, I felt good, had fun, and gave 100% throughout each event. I met my goal
of "top ten" and finished 9th in my division.
The winner was 1:42:54
The Swim:
I concentrated on staying in the draft of someone who was a little faster than me. It was
a scenic little course around 2 islands.
The Bike:
Flat and fast. Battled with 2 guys on Softrides (those $2500 bikes that you just love to
beat) and finally left them behind on the one-and-only hill which was a steep 3minute
climb. My 26mph average speed was my fastest yet!
The Run:
Started off better than usual, made sure to splash a lot of water on my head, and ran
strong to mile 4. Then it really got hard; my feet hurt from the hot asphalt and the sun
was slowing me down. But finally I got to the crowds and all the cheers drowned out the
pain and it was a great feeling to sprint the last 300yds.
The ongoing Clint-Troy Racing Saga was even more suspenseful with a very close 20 second win over Clint.
Thanks
Thanks to Dick, Meagan, Anne, Dean who braved the heat to come and watch.
Thanks to Janet for the lucky gold crane :)
Thanks to Clint for convincing me to wear socks during the hot run.
Thanks to everyone who came out to watch and cheer and encourage! I hope the sunburns
aren't too bad! Next big race is Donner Lake Triathlon, July 16th. See you there!
