| The setting is beautiful, high up in the Mt. Tamalpais hills, in a
camp called Camp Tamarancho. The Mtn Bk race was tough, 18mi (3 loops) through very
narrow, windy singletrack with a killer hill. Squeezing 60 guys onto a foot-wide trail
created quite a tense situation. I was pretty beat up afterwards and don't know how
I placed at all (probably not very good, got tangled up too many times, lost lots of
positions). Constantly watching for cliffs, low branches, river crossings, switchbacks, drop-offs, etc. |
